صار الأ4طباء قادرين على رؤيتك من الدخل، ويستطيعون الإطلاع على أعضائك الداخلية كأنهم يقرأون كتاباً مفتوحاً. ويرجع الفضل في ذلك إلى تقنية تصوير جديدة تخترق طبقات جسدك مثلما تقوم بتقشير بصلة، فهذه التقنية تبحر في جسدك بيسر من الجلد إلى العظم.
ويستخدم جهاز ملتيسلايس «متعدد الشرائح» 64 للتصوير الضوئي تقنية متقدمة شبيهة بالسحر للحصول على صور رقمية ثلاثية الأبعاد للأعضاء المريضة، بل تصوير الجسد كله في وقت أقصر وسعر أرخص من وسائل التصوير الطبي الأخرى. وهذا الجهاز الذي صممته شركة توشيبا اليابانية لا تزيد قيمته على مليون دولار أمريكي.

من ناحية أخرى كان المرضى وكبار السن يرغمون على الاستلقاء بلا حراك لمدة ربع ساعة لكي يتم تصويرهم بأجهزة التصوير القديمة، أما الجهاز الجديد فيستطيع أخد 64 صورة «أشعة إكس» متزامنة في خمس دقائق.

ويقول كريس براندت الذي يعمل في قسم التصوير بالأشعة في مستشفى كونكست بمدينة هاستنغ في إنجلترا، الذي بدأ للتو يستخدم الجهاز: «عند استخدام الأجهزة القديمة لتصوير الصدر كان على المريض حجز الهواء في رئتيه لمدة ثلاثين ثانية، أما الآن وبفضل السرعة التي تميز هذه التقنية الجديدة يكفي أن يحبس المريض الهواء في صدره لحوالي خمس ثوان. وسيكون لهذه السرعة مزايا في تخفيف معاناة المريض عند التصوير».

ويقول الخبراء أن جهاز ملتيسلايس 64، على عكس أجهزة التصوير الأخرى، يمكن استخدامه لتصوير أي جزء من الجسم، كما أن سرعته وسهولة استخدامه تجعل الأطباء قادرين على القيام بعدد من عمليات التصوير لتفادي الاختبارات المرهقة والمؤلمة أو إجراء الجراحات الاستكشافية.

ويضيف براندت: «للجهاز كثير من المزايا لتحقيق راحة المريض، وفي نفس الوقت يعطي صورة أكثر دقة عما يحدث داخل الجسم».

ويقول ديفيد بيكر اختصاصي الأشعة في مستشفى كونكست: «نستطيع الآن تصوير عدد أكبر من المرضى، ونستطيع الحصول على صور أوضح لجسم كل مريض الأمر الذي يساعد في دقة التشخيص».

(TAMS) today unveiled the new Aquilion™ 64 CFX computed tomography (CT) system optimized for examination of the coronary arteries. The Aquilion 64 CFX features Toshiba's unique 64-row Quantum detector for simultaneous 64-slice scanning with spatial resolution of 0.35 mm, volume imaging capabilities and proprietary software applications designed to automate complex diagnostic cardiac studies.

"With the industry's best isotropic voxel resolution and low-contrast specifications, the Aquilion 64 CFX provides the best combination of specifications for cardiovascular imaging," said Doug Ryan, director, CT Business Unit, Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. The Aquilion 64-slice CT scanner, which has been scanning at the Fujita Health University in Japan since March 2004, is currently performing clinical trials of its cardiac imaging capabilities and will be available for delivery in 2005. The Aquilion 64 is built on the same platform as the Aquilion 32 using the Quantum 64 detector that has scanned more than 3,000 patients worldwide. Aquilion 32 users can upgrade to an Aquilion 64 with a simple field modification.

"The Aquilion 64 CFX has already demonstrated tremendous clinical benefits for cardiovascular imaging, especially in performing CT coronary angiography," said Hirofumi Anno, M.D., Fujita Health University. Toshiba Quantum Detector and Advanced Cardiac Software Applications

At the heart of the Aquilion 64 CFX is its superior Quantum 64 multirow detector design. The Quantum 64 is the most sophisticated CT detector commercially available providing high-speed, high-resolution imaging with the lowest noise. The Quantum 64 detector enables the Aquilion CT scanner to acquire 64 simultaneous image slices through an advanced 64-row data acquisition system (DAS) at a 400-millisecond gantry revolution. The Aquilion 64 CFX in combination with the Quantum 64 also provides the industry's best low-contrast resolution at 2 mm and isotropic voxel size of 0.35 mm to ensure multiplannar image quality and accuracy. The result is precise isotropic imaging of any region of the body with dramatically reduced breath-hold times.

Computed Volume Reconstruction, the way to go

Toshiba has taken CT scanning yet another step further. With the newly introduced Volume Reconstruction you can scan a large volume in a minimum of time where as the Volume Viewing automatically reconstructs the scanned data into the isotropic volume used for diagnosis. No need for axial images anymore. No need to go into the data and reconstruct MPR's. Aquilion 64 uses the full quality of isotropic high resolution and has the details available to you in an instant.

Volume Viewing also revolutionizes CT archiving. Aquilion 64 does away with the need for thin slice archiving, a problem for many IT-departments. Only the volume used for diagnosis in effect will be stored saving an enormous amount of storage space keeping the total cost of scanning as low as possible.


Better results, lower X-ray exposure

The highly sophisticated Toshiba 3-D Quantum denoising (patent pending) enables you to reduce patient dose up to 40%. This gives a completely new dimension to low dose scanning as Quantum denoising gives you the choice of reducing dose without loss of image quality. Or it can be used to improve image quality at commonly used low dose settings. Pre-eminently the method to use for paediatric scanning. It actually is the only dose reduction method capable of combining dose reduction and image quality improvement.


Most efficient in Cardiac CT

Selection of the right scan parameters and reconstruction method are essential in Cardiac CT. As Aquilion systems enable scanning cardiac patients not being treated with a beta-blocker, Aquilion has been designed to optimize both conditions in an extremely operator friendly way.

SURECardio incorporates patient breath-hold training, analyzing the cardiac rhythm and selecting the optimum scan and reconstruction parameters with a minimum of effort for the operator.

Now just a few heartbeats are required, yet not compromising image-quality, as the 0,35 mm isotropic voxel resolution stays guaranteed. This allows visualization of the lumen in coronary arteries and presents you with a detail of soft-plaque structures. The short scan-time eliminates influence from the patient's heartbeat. The retrospective segmented reconstruction provides stable coronary artery imaging even for heart rates of up to 140 beats per minute and, as a beta-blocker is not required, true cardiac function analysis.
